DAY ONE - THE MYSTERY OF STONEHENGE

Morning: First on the list for your group is a trip to Stonehenge. A museum and visitors' centre will help your group pick apart the mystery of the monument, and a visitor shuttle will take them deep into the Wiltshire landscape to see the stones for themselves.

Lunch: Have lunch in the large onsite café at Stonehenge.

Afternoon: The 56 acre ruins of Old Sarum are a short drive from Stonehenge. Your group can explore the remains of the prehistoric fortress and the Norman palace, castle and cathedral. 

If you have time, head into Salisbury for a spot of shopping, visit the stunning Cathedral or Salisbury Museum. Alternatively, head to Devizes and visit the Wiltshire Museum.

Driving: The trip from Stonehenge to Old Sarum should take 16 minutes, and it's a further 11 minutes to Salisbury. The trip from Stonehenge to Wiltshire Museum shoudl take around 30 minutes.

DAY TWO - THE LEGEND OF KING ARTHUR

Morning: Your group will start the day by exploring Okehampton Castle, the largest castle in Devon. Make sure they take the fantastic free audio tour which brings the medieval castle back to life.

Next, head to Launceston Castle, which offers panoramic views of its historic town and surrounding countryside. Learn about how it changed into a prison in the exhibition tracing 1,000 years of history.

Lunch: Eat in one of Launceston's many cafes, or head to Tintagel Castle's café.

Afternoon: In the afternoon, visit the spectacular castle of Tintagel, the legendary birthplace of King Arthur. Your group can roam the ruins of the castle and its headland and take in the breathtaking views of the Cornish coast. Dive deeper into the history of King Arthur by visiting King Arthur's Great Halls, just a two minute drive away.

Driving: Okehampton Castle is a 21 minute drive from Launceston Castle, and Tintagel Castle is a further 34 minute drive.

In 2018, work will begin on a new footbridge at Tintagel Castle that will follow the path of the original crossing between the mainland and the headland. Tintagel Castle will remain fully open to visitors throughout the spring and summer, before closing for the construction of the bridge from October 2018. DAY THREE - HENRY VIII'S COASTAL CASTLES

Morning: On the last day of your tour of the south west, visit St Mawes Castle. Take the audio guide which will teach your group the history behind Henry VIII's most picturesque coastal fort.

Lunch: St Mawes is a pretty fishing village with plenty of restaurants and pubs. Alternatively, continue on to Pendennis Castle for lunch in Café No. 6. Groups should book in advance.

Afternoon: Continue on to nearby Pendennis Castle, rich with 500 years of history from Tudor times to the Second World War. Today your group can view an interactive exhibition, tracing the history of the castle and its people. 2 ½ hours should give your group enough time to explore the castle.

Driving: The trip from St Mawes Castle to Pendennis Castle takes around an hour.
