Green Spaces Dark Skies
On Saturday 11th June the Free sites team in the South were delighted to host a fantastic community event at, Maiden Castle the stunning Iron Age hill fort near Dorchester. The event was the result of a collaboration of various organisations including the Arts Council, the local AONB, Students form Bournemouth University, walk the plank theatre group and many other local stakeholders pulled together by Inside Out Dorset brought to you by Activate Performing Arts
This was one of a dozen or so of these events happening all over the UK this summer and it was so amazing after the last couple of years to see so many people from so many different backgrounds coming together at one of our sites and having a brilliant day out.
The day had a festival feel to it with live music by local artist Isiah Dreads and other activities during the afternoon and climaxed as the sun went down with hundreds of people with GPS controlled lights parading up to the top of the moor to create a light display filmed from above.
