Today at Clifford's Tower, a new roof deck gives unrivalled 360° views over the city's historic skyline, with its medieval buildings and famous Minster. Inside, you and your guests can access the tower's new walkways and staircases which have opened up parts of the tower that have been off-limits for centuries. Reopened on 2 April 2022 following a major £5 million project to conserve and radically transform the interior of the 800-year-old landmark, Clifford's Tower will certainly impress.

Roof deck
As part of the recent major conservation project at Clifford's Tower, an enormous structural timber frame has created the tower’s new roof deck. Fitted with timber benches, floor lights and a surrounding safety rail, you can enjoy the space as a magnificent viewing platform.
Offering unrivalled panoramic views over York's historic skyline, the roof deck is an impressive place to entertain your guests while having drinks and canapés whilst watching the sun go down.
Tower floor
Inside Clifford's Tower, new walkways and staircases have opened up parts of the tower that have been off-limits for centuries. The architectural features of high and wide open space makes a fantastic setting for people to mingle with soft acoustics bounces from lobe to lobe of the tower walls.
With views looking up to the open night sky canvas, you're sure to find this a stunning space, offing a natural starry sky delight.

Please note that Clifford's Tower is available for evening hire from 6:30pm. All catering units and additional facilities such as toilets, need to be cited at the bottom of the steps leading up to the tower.
The tower has 55 entrance steps with handrails to the keep of the tower, with available seated resting points off the central stairway. There are walkways inside the tower and spiral stairs up to the roof deck. Unfortunately there is no lift to the tower which makes the tower inaccessible to wheelchair users.
