Richmond Castle
SUITABLE FORAdults
The cells at Richmond Castle are internationally famous for the graffiti record created by conscientious objectors during the First World War. What is less well understood is the extraordinary range of graffiti, subject matter and style written and drawn on the walls over the past 100 years and more.
This event will start with a talk about the history of the graffiti at the Mayor's Parlour at Richmond Town Hall, followed by a rare opportunity to go inside the cell block at Richmond Castle with our expert guide and stand up close to this incredible archive.
This event is graded as moderate access as parts of the tour will involve walking on uneven terrain and navigating some stairs.
