The Garden Cottage at Walmer Castle

The Garden Cottage is a delightful two bed holiday cottage comfortably sleeping four, overlooking Walmer Castle’s walled garden and with views of the castle itself. Recently refurbished to a stylish modern feel, this roomy, ground and first floor apartment overlooks Walmer Castle and the walled garden. Built by Henry VIII in 1539 to defend England from invasion by the French, Walmer Castle is the official residence of the Lord Warden, Commander of the Cinque Ports. There is a beach within easy walking distance, and the town of Sandwich is a short drive away. Discover Walmer Castle

Built in 1539 Walmer Castle is one of a number of forts built by Henry VIII along this part of the coast to defend England from invasion by the French. Walmer Castle is the official residence of the Lord Warden, Commander of the Cinque ports, a role that has been in existence since the 13th Century and former holders have included the Duke of Wellington, Winston Churchill and Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother.
