Our Appeals

Our Appeals

The historic places in English Heritage's care span six millennia and include palaces, abbeys, houses, castles, hill figures, industrial sites, Roman forts and even deserted medieval villages. Discover how you can make a difference to a project that inspires you.

Conservation Appeal

You won’t be surprised to hear that, like so many other organisations, we are facing an unprecedented challenge due to the Coronavirus crisis. There’s no escaping the fact that our ability to protect and preserve our nation’s heritage is under threat.

The closure of our sites has meant that much-needed funding from admissions, new and renewing memberships, cafés and shops has been lost overnight. The daily upkeep of estates has been suspended. Conservation work has been put on hold. Major restoration projects have been postponed. Your support is critical to our very survival, and will help to make sure England’s story survives in all its glory.

Once and Future Fund

Over 300 of the sites in our care are free for all to enjoy. Our ancestors fought hard for this heritage to be passed down to us. And now it’s our turn to ensure that these historic properties continue to be looked after.

By supporting the Once and Future Fund, you will help to secure the future of the places across England where history was made.

The campaign is now in its final stage, and time is running out. Until 31 July 2021, your donation will be matched by the National Lottery, meaning your gift will double in value.

Marble Hill Appeal

Marble Hill is a much-loved space for both locals and Londoners, young and old, to relax and play. However, since the 1980s it's seen little investment. Opening times for the historic house are limited, while the park's original character has been lost.

With your help we can conserve and restore this local landmark.

Save our story - wall paintings

For centuries, England's story has been painted on church walls and castle ceilings in every corner of the nation. Restoring these precious wall paintings is like drawing back the curtain on the lives of those who shaped who we are. But sadly, dozens of these irreplaceable treasures are in danger of deteriorating so much that they could disappear forever.

Discover the full collection and be part of our mission to protect these relics of our past. Donate today to the appeal.
