Facilities at Old Wardour Castle

  • Parking

    The free car park is located approximately 70 meters from the site entrance and has 20 spaces. Additional parking is available on the grass next to the main car park should it be required. This provides room for a further 50 cars. Please note: There are no spaces reserved for coaches in the car park.

  • Food And Drink

    There is no café on site, but a vending machine offers tea, coffee and hot chocolate. Cold drinks, ice creams and pre-packed snacks are also available.
  • Picnic Area

    You are welcome to bring a picnic to eat in the grounds. There are two picnic tables adjacent to the shop and four benches situated within the grounds, as well as plenty of grassed areas on which you can lay out your picnic blanket.
  • Shop

    The gift shop is located just inside the main gates and sells a wide range of English Heritage souvenirs and gifts, including books, games, snacks, confectionery and hot and cold drinks.
  • Toilets

    There are separate male, female and disabled toilets, including baby changing facilities. These are located below the Pavilion, at the far end of the site.
  • Dogs

    Dogs are allowed on this property
  • Gardens

    The site is approximately 100 x 200 meters, and is mostly lawn with some scattered trees and benches. There is a footpath skirting the lawn, and shrubbery around the perimeter. There is also a good walking area with paths leading to Ansty and the Donheads.

    Play Areas / Adventure Playground

    Although there is no actual adventure playground, there is plenty of space for children to run around and explore, however ball games, throwing games and kites are not allowed. Please note: On certain Bank Holiday weekends (when no events have been booked) traditional games are available to play with in the grounds.

    Push Chairs Allowed

    Yes, however the castle stairs are not suitable for carrying pushchairs to higher levels.

    Toy / Dressing Up Box

    Toys and dressing up are only offered for school visits.

    Civil Weddings

    Old Wardour is licensed for civil wedding ceremonies, which can be held weekly throughout the year.
  • Commercial Photograph And Filming

    English Heritage welcomes all photographers to our sites and we hope you will share your pictures with us on Flickr and Facebook. We do have some restrictions at certain locations, so if photography is your main reason for visiting, please call the site ahead of your visit to check if any parts of the site are restricted. We are keen to promote the use of our sites to location managers. If you are interested please go to (Filming Locations) for more information and contacts. English Heritage does not permit drone flying from or over sites in our care, except by contractors or partners undertaking flights for a specific purpose, who satisfy stringent CAA criteria, have the correct insurances and permissions, and are operating under controlled conditions.
