Richmond Castle: Head to the Yorkshire Dales

Tucked away at the very edge of the Yorkshire Dales, Richmond Castle is one of the greatest Norman fortresses in Britain. Climb up the stairs of the keep for breathtaking views over the dales and head into the museum to learn about Richmond’s history. Around the corner, you can also find Middleham Castle and Barnard Castle.

Mount Grace Priory: Three days out in one

Spend the whole day at Mount Grace by exploring the 14th century priory and reconstructed monks’ cell. Move into the Manor House where you can wander through rooms decorated in the Arts and Crafts style. Afterwards, head to the café for a refreshment before enjoying the gardens.

Rievaulx Abbey: A tranquil escape

Nestled within the North York Moors, deep in a valley, you’ll find Rievaulx Abbey. Wander through the ruins of one of England's most powerful Cistercian monasteries and see why it was so popular with Romantic artists. Head to the museum to learn about the lives of the monks who lived there, including Aelred.
