Defending Dartmouth Castle and Cannon Conservation Tour

DATE

Tue 26 May 2026

TIME

11am - 1pm

LOCATION

Dartmouth Castle

SUITABLE FOR

Everyone

Join members of our Curatorial and Collections team at Dartmouth Castle, built in the 14th century to defend the town against French raiders during the Hundred Year Wars.

During this tour you will explore the site’s rich history and learn about the collection of weaponry held here as well as getting hands on with cleaning one of the historic canons that still reside in the grounds. Our expert Conservators will guide you through the use of tools to preserve and clean as you give it a go yourself.

There will be limited places to stop and rest during the walk and will include some uneven terrain and steps throughout the tour.
