5 steps to an inspiring education visit
Planning a trip to an English Heritage site is easy.
Not only are visits a brilliant way to give your students immersive, hands-on experiences that complement the curriculum, they can also be organised on a budget.
Follow these five simple steps to creating a day you and your students will never forget!

Whatever your learning objectives, we've got a site to suit you. Worried about rising costs? You can visit any of our sites for free so you can keep costs down and lead your visit, your way.

Use our free teaching resources to create a trip that suits the needs of your class. They're full of activities for before, during and after your visit, covering a variety of curriculum topics and key stages. We also have risk assessments for Discovery Visits and hazard information for sites available, too.

It's always worth doing a recce before you bring your group. Don't forget to book a free planning visit to familiarise yourself with the site and meet our team onsite.
Book in advance and bring your education booking permit with you to show a member of staff.

- If you need access to equipment, such as audio guides and handling items, or facilities, please check availability before you visit
- Consider bringing wet weather gear, as many of our sites are exposed to the elements!
- If you want to read up before your visit, group leaders get 20% off an official site guidebook - just show us your visit permit
- We've partnered with The Great British School Trip to help as many students as possible experience our sites. Register now and you could get help covering the costs of transport or our Discovery Visit workshops
