Plan a Great Day Out

East of Black Carts Turret is Chesters Roman Fort, the most complete Roman cavalry fort in Britain and home to a well preserved bath house and museum. Chesters Museum houses finds made by John Clayton (1792-1890) during a lifetime of excavations along Hadrian's Wall. The fort also has a tearoom, selling delicious hot and cold refreshments, and has toilet facilities, a picnic area and a gift shop.

Black Carts Turret is part of the Chesters Roman Trail.
