Birdoswald Roman Fort is the perfect place to see the longest continuous remaining stretch of the magnificent World Heritage Site of Hadrian's Wall. The fort is set in a 61 hectare estate which offers opportunities for walking and bird watching, as well as history. The bunkhouse is located in a most attractive setting, set on a spur of land which overlooks the magnificent 'Irthing Gorge' with breathtaking views.
The converted 17th century farmhouse provides self-catered group accommodation for up to 37 people. Overlooking the remains of the Roman Fort the bunkhouse as seven bedrooms which sleep between 2 and 8 people. The bedrooms have bunk beds, a wash hand basin and full central heating; many of the rooms retain their original feature fireplaces . One room has an en suite shower room; all the others have their own individual shower room near to the bedroom. Each shower room consists of a WC, wash hand basin and shower. A disabled bedroom with en suite facilities is available on the ground floor of the bunkhouse.
The large farmhouse kitchen is fitted with two Aga cookers, refrigeration and a dishwashers for group use. Adjacent to the kitchen is the dining room, which overlooks the exposed ruins of the fort. In the dining room there are folding dining tables ensuring space for groups to sit and relax after meals or upon large scatter cushions if desired.
The bunkhouse also has a laundry room with washing and drying machines and space to let your clothes dry.
