Guided Tours & Museum.

From 1 November 2024 to 31 March 2025 volunteers will normally be on site on Saturdays and Sundays from 11am until 1pm and the museum will be open at these times.

There will be an abbey tour at midday on Saturdays, subject to availability of a guide. Tours are free and do not need to be booked but if you wish to book or make an enquiry please contact: sam.macfie@english-heritage.org.uk .

All is dependent on the availability of volunteers and the state of the weather.

Please note that during the winter the wonderful tiles are not visible as they are covered with protective material. The covers are normally put down in the autumn and removed in the spring. Exact dates vary according to the vagaries of the weather.

Bringing Byland Abbey to you.

In 2025 we are pleased to be launching informal talks of Byland Abbey for local community and education groups. Our volunteers can come to your group (in person or virtually) and present about our brilliant site.
