Events

Thanks to our fantastic volunteers we are able to host events across our open season (April to October) and then a reduced opening during our closed season (November to December), please check here for updates on the latest events.

Please note: The Museum is currently closed for cleaning. We expect to re-open the Museum to visitors in Spring.

Guided Tours & Museum.

Our summer opening season runs from 1 April to 31 October 2026. Volunteers will normally be on site, and the museum open, from 12pm to 4pm every Friday to Monday.

An abbey tour will take place at 2pm every Saturday and Sunday. This will last approximately an hour. These tours are free and do not need to be booked.

The above offerings are dependant on the availability of volunteers and the state of the weather.

Outside of summer opening, you will see volunteers on site Friday to Monday and tours are available on request.

Byland Abbey Bookshop

Thanks to our amazing volunteers we are able to offer the Byland Abbey bookshop - a second hand bookshop located at the entrance to the Site
