Byland Abbey

Events

Thanks to our fantastic volunteers we are able to host events across our open season (April to October) and then a reduced opening during our closed season (November to December), please check here for updates on the latest events.

Guided Tours & Museum.

Our summer opening season runs from 1 April to 31 October 2025. Volunteers will normally be on site, and the museum open, from 1pm to 5pm every Friday to Monday.

An abbey tour will take place at 2pm every Saturday and Sunday. This will last approximately an hour. These tours are free and do not need to be booked but if you do wish to book or make an enquiry please contact sam.macfie@english-heritage.org.uk .

The above offerings are dependant on the availability of volunteers and the state of the weather.

Please note that in the early weeks of the season the famous tile pavements may be covered and thus invisible due to the material used to protect them from the elements.
