Council car park in Craster (60 spaces), 1.3 miles from site. Limited car parking at Embleton Golf Club. Coin operated machines. Not managed by English Heritage. No refund of car park charges on admission.

Extensive picnicking opportunities both within site (benches and tables) and seashore immediately adjacent to site.
Shop

Shop is located in the Site Administration Building near the entrance. It has ramped access. The shop sells a wide range refreshments and confectionery, together with medieval toys and gifts. There are a variety of historical and natural history books.

Extensive areas of short grass for all sorts of games, and re-enactment of famous battles within a historic setting. Grounds within the castle extend to 0.9 hectares. There are paths around the perimeter which give excellent opportunities to see at close range large varieties of birds, flowers and mammals. Of particular interest are nesting seabirds and birds of prey.

We do have some restrictions at certain locations, so if photography is your main reason for visiting, please call the site ahead of your visit to check if any parts of the site are restricted.

English Heritage does not permit drone flying from or over sites in our care, except by contractors or partners undertaking flights for a specific purpose, who satisfy stringent CAA criteria, have the correct insurances and permissions, and are operating under controlled conditions.
