Access at Furness Abbey

Access information for the site is listed below. For more information, or if you have particular access needs, please contact us before you visit. Please note that some facilities may require booking in advance.

You can book online until 8.45am on the day of your visit. You can still buy a ticket when you arrive, but you won’t get the discount. 

Tickets are valid all day, so you can arrive at any time and stay for as long as you like within our opening hours.

Tickets are free for members. You can still book online if you’d like – just remember to bring your English Heritage membership card.

You can join as a member online or during your visit.

Dog bowl available at the rear porch of Visitor Centre.
Wheelchair Access
A ramp to the rear of the Visitor Centre enables wheelchair access to site. There are a number of ramps and reinforced grass slopes around the site. The ground can become soft following periods of wet weather which can be challenging for wheelchair users.

There are a number of benches and picnic benches at the North end of the site in the Visitor Centre area.
Pathways Surface And Gradients
Most of the site is fairly flat but uneven and grassy. There are some steep slopes in places. There are a small number of gravelled areas.
