English Heritage Summer 2024 Competition T&Cs

The Promoter is: The English Heritage Trust, incorporated and registered in England and Wales with company number 7447221 and charity number 1140351 whose registered office is at The Engine House, Fire Fly Avenue, Swindon, SN2 2EH (‘English Heritage’).

These terms and conditions apply to the #EHSummer competition, running on the official English Heritage Instagram and Facebook accounts (@EnglishHeritage) from 01/07/2024 to 26/08/2024 (‘the Competition’).

The Competition will be divided into eight (8) separate weeks of contests. Each week will have a different theme and the previous week’s winners and runners-up will be featured in a weekly video which will be shared to English Heritage’s Instagram and Facebook accounts. At the end of the Competition, a selection of the winners’ and runners-ups’ footage will then feature in a summary video shared on the English Heritage owned channels and website. The footage for this summary video will be selected by our internal design team. Each weekly contest will have one (1) winner with the best footage and no more than ten (10) runners-up picked by a member of the English Heritage social media team.

Each weekly contest will run between 11am on Tuesday to 11am on Monday of the following week.

Entries must be submitted between 11am on 01/07/24 and 11am on 08/07/24 to be eligible for entry in week one’s round of the Competition, and to feature in the video shared on 09/07/24. Entries must be submitted between 11am on 09/07/24 and 11am on 15/07/24 to be eligible for entry in week two’s round of the Competition, and to feature in the video shared on 16/07/24. Entries must be submitted between 11am on 16/07/24 and 11am on 22/07/24 to be eligible for entry in week three’s round of the Competition, and to feature in the video shared on 23/07/24. Entries must be submitted between 11am on 23/07/24 and 11am on 29/07/24 to be eligible for entry in week four’s round of the Competition, and to feature in the video shared on 30/07/24. Entries must be submitted between 11am on 30/07/24 and 11am on 05/08/24 to be eligible for entry in week five’s round of the Competition, and to feature in the video shared on 06/08/24. Entries must be submitted between 11am on 06/08/24 and 11am on 12/08/24 to be eligible for entry in week six’s round of the Competition, and to feature in the video shared on 13/08/24. Entries must be submitted between 11am on 13/07/24 and 11am on 19/08/24 to be eligible for entry in week seven’s round of the Competition, and to feature in the video shared on 20/08/24. Entries must be submitted between 11am on 20/07/24 and 11am on 26/08/24 to be eligible for entry in week eight’s round of the Competition, and to feature in the video shared on 27/08/24.

Each week’s theme will be shared at 11am on Tuesday alongside the previous week’s video. This Competition is only open to residents of the UK.

How to enter:

To enter, you will need to share 5 to 10 seconds worth of footage captured at an English Heritage site. The footage must tie into the weekly theme shared on our Facebook and Instagram channels. To enter on Instagram, you should upload an image to your feed and tag our Instagram account @EnglishHeritage AND use the hashtag #EHSummer. To enter on Facebook, you should drop your video footage into the comment section of the relevant competition post.

All entries must be the sole work of the entrant. It is the responsibility of each entrant to ensure that any footage submitted does not infringe on the copyright of any third parties, and to indemnify English Heritage against any claims made by third parties in the event of such an infringement. Obscene or inappropriate entries will not be accepted and English Heritage reserves the right to reject any entries for any reason at its sole discretion.

It is the responsibility of each entrant to ensure that any footage submitted has been taken with the consent of anyone who is identifiable in that footage or the consent of their parent/guardian if they are under 18 years and that they have been advised of the purpose of the submission and that their image may be published by English Heritage.

By entering the Competition, entrants consent to English Heritage using, reposting, repurposing or sharing the entry across its website, print and social media for Marketing purposes in perpetuity. The entry, name and Instagram handle (if applicable) of the winners and runners-up will be used by English Heritage and shared on English Heritage’s official Instagram and Facebook accounts. The parents or legal guardians of any winning entrants under the age of 18 years must complete a Consent Form consenting to the use of the entrant’s entry, name and Instagram handle (if applicable) for publicity purposes on English Heritage’s website, print and social media and any other media. No responsibility can be accepted for entries not received for whatever reason.

Each week one (1) winner and no more than ten (10) runners-up will be picked by a member of the English Heritage social media team. The winners will receive items from the English Heritage Shop worth £30.00 within 28 days of being contacted. The runners-up will have their footage included in the weekly reel. English Heritage will contact the winner via Instagram or Facebook to arrange delivery of their prize. If a winner cannot be contacted or does not claim their prize within 48 hours of notification, English Heritage reserves the right to withdraw the prize from that winner and pick a replacement winner, however the original winner’s footage will still be featured in the weekly video and may be featured in the summary video created at the end of the Competition.

English Heritage must either publish or make available information that indicates that a valid award took place. To comply with this obligation English Heritage will send the surname and county of residence of the winner to anyone who sends a private message to English Heritage owned social channels, emails social@english-heritage.org.uk or writes to The Engine House, Fire Fly Avenue, Swindon, SN2 2EH, FAO The Social Media Team (enclosing a self-addressed envelope) within one month of the Competition closing. If the entrant objects to any or all of their surname and county of residence being published or made available, they must contact social@english-heritage.org.uk. In such circumstances, English Heritage must still provide the information and winning entry to the Advertising Standards Authority on request.

By entering the Competition, entrants are agreeing that any personal information provided with the entry may be held and used by English Heritage or its agents and suppliers to administer the Competition. All personal data provided to English Heritage will be held and processed in accordance with the requirements of all legislation and regulatory requirements in force from time to time relating to the use of personal data and the privacy of electronic communications, including (i) the Data Protection Act 2018 and any successor UK legislation, as well as (ii) the UK GDPR; and (iii) the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (SI 2003/2426) as amended. English Heritage will keep the entrant’s personal data safe and secure. English Heritage will not share it with other organisations without the entrant’s knowledge and consent, unless required by law to do so. English Heritage will keep the entrant’s personal data only for the purposes of communicating with the entrant regarding this Competition. The entrant shall have the right to withdraw their consent at any time. The withdrawal of consent shall not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.

Employees or contractors of English Heritage, any person directly or indirectly involved in English Heritage or the running of the Competition, or their direct family members are not eligible to participate in the Competition.

English Heritage’s decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into. Prizes must be taken as stated and cannot be deferred. There will be no cash alternatives. English Heritage reserves the right to substitute the prize for one of equal or greater value. English Heritage reserves the right to cancel the Competition at any stage if deemed necessary in its opinion, and if circumstances arise outside of its control.

Entry in the Competition signifies acceptance of these rules. English Heritage reserves the right to withhold, change or cancel the prize in the event of non-compliance with these rules. English Heritage also reserves the right at its discretion to cancel or amend the Competition rules at any time.
