What is Playhenge?
Playhenge is an exciting, hands-on activity for families taking place at Stonehenge this May half-term in collaboration with our event partner, Woodland Tribe. Real tools and wood will safely be handed over to children and their adults to build a temporary adventure playground of their design.

Playhenge takes place daily from Saturday 23 May to Friday 29 May 2026 between 10.30am and 5.30pm (last entry at 5pm). This experience is first come first served, and due to capacity, queues may form. Time within the experience will be restricted, but you are welcome to come back and have multiple build attempts throughout the day.
-
Do I need to pre-book tickets for this event?
You don’t need to book for Playhenge specifically as this event is included with your general admission to Stonehenge. You can find out how to book your visit on the event page. Please bring your booking confirmation with you on the day.

Is the event suitable for visitors with access needs?
Yes. The visitor facilities at Stonehenge have been designed to be as accessible as possible. We can make adjustments for families with access needs to take part in Playhenge.
A carer or companion is welcome to join you - just let us know on arrival at Stonehenge that you have someone with you, or you can book their free place online.
-
Will there be any inclusion sessions?
We don’t run dedicated inclusion sessions, but we’re happy to make adjustments to support any child’s needs. The Woodland Tribe team are experienced in working with SEND young people and families and adapt their practice to ensure families feel included and supported with the activities. Families can notify staff on site if they need any extra support or have any access needs and staff will be more than happy to help.
-
Is the event safe?
Woodland Tribe have a detailed risk assessment, and the team regularly check the built play area structure. Woodland Tribe have been delivering exciting play experiences since 2014 and find that children are very careful and good at making their own assessments based on their capabilities. A trained first aider will be on site throughout the event.
-
What has Playhenge got to do with Stonehenge?
This activity will challenge children to use their imaginations, think about how to safely design and build structures and work collaboratively for a common purpose. This aligns with what we know about the builders of Stonehenge.
