Berry Pomeroy Castle

Facilities at Berry Pomeroy Castle

  • Parking

    V

The car park is located 50 metres from the front entrance and is free of charge for patrons of the café and castle. It is at end of a single track drive with passing places and has a loose stone and gravel surface, then level grass.

At peak times the car park can become full so there may not always be parking available.

There are between 25 and 30 spaces available for cars and minibuses only (please note that the site is not accessible to coaches). The nearest set down point is at the main gate at the start of the forest track. There are no roads to cross when walking between the car park and the entrance. Additional parking is available in Totnes, which is located roughly 2 1/2 miles from the site. Please note that there is no local parking for coaches.

  • Food And Drink

The Castle Café (not managed by English Heritage) offers light snacks, lunches, drinks and hot meals. Opening times vary. To avoid disappointment please contact the café when planning your visit: 01803 849473.

You are welcome to bring a picnic to eat in the grounds. There are plenty of grassed areas on which to lay out your picnic blanket, however there are no benches available to sit on.
  • Shop

    V
The gift shop sells a selection of English Heritage gifts and themed souvenirs. It is located just before the castle entrance, and is fully accessible to disabled visitors.

There are male and female toilets.

  • Dogs

    V

Dog on leads are welcome in the castle, gift shop and café.

There is a large grassed area in front of the castle and some smaller grassed areas within. Visitors can walk down through the woodland (not owned by English Heritage) to the old fish ponds.

  • Audio Tours

The free audio tour recounts tales of ghostly happenings, which brings the castle to life.
  • Family Friendly

    V

    Baby Changing Facilities

There are separate male, female and disabled toilets, including baby changing facilities.

    Play Areas / Adventure Playground

Although there is not a playground, there is plenty of space for children to run around and explore, however ball games are limited to certain areas of the site and unfortunately kites are not allowed.
  • Commercial Photograph And Filming

    V

English Heritage welcomes amateur photographers to our sites and we hope you will share your pictures of your visit with us on social media.

If you are looking to use one of our sites for commercial, corporate or professional photography or as a filming location, please contact our filming team as soon as possible to check availability and acquire the relevant permissions and paperwork.

Due to the delicate nature of our sites, English Heritage does not permit drone flying from or over sites in our care, except by contractors or partners undertaking flights for a specific purpose, who satisfy stringent CAA criteria, have the correct insurances and permissions, and are operating under controlled conditions.
