There’s free parking for about 40 cars at Muchelney Abbey.

There is a designated picnic area at Muchelney Abbey but visitors can lay a blanket out anywhere they wish.

The on-site shop which is located within the site's reception area sells a selection of English Heritage gifts and themed souvenirs, including liqueurs, wines, preserves, chutneys, postcards and books.

One unisex toilet (accessible for wheelchair users) is available on site.

Dogs are allowed on leads.

Exhibitions illustrate monastic life with a fascinating collection of site finds, including decorated medieval tiles and stonework. There is also some John Leech pottery and a few examples of reproduction medieval furniture on display.

The grounds (which measure approximately 100 metres by 100 metres) contain the low-level ruins of the abbey. There are no paths; you are encouraged to walk where you wish among the ruins.

Play Areas / Adventure Playground

There is plenty of room to run and play, although the grounds are not suitable for ball games or kites.

Push Chairs Allowed

Push chairs are allowed. Staff will assist if needed on steps and stairs.

Toy / Dressing Up Box

Monk's clothing is available for dressing up.

Foreign Language Guide Books

A small typed sheet briefly describing the site layout and history is available in French, German and Danish.

The site can be hired out to third parties subject to suitability. Please contact the site for further information.
