• What is Illuminated Witley Court?

  Illuminated Witley Court is a brand-new outdoor event, consisting of various performances and lighting installations in the run up to Halloween. There is a set trail to follow which takes you on an eerie fairy tale adventure throughout the grounds and gardens. Find out more.

• Who is Illuminated Witley Court suitable for?

  This is a family-friendly event suitable for all ages. Our storytellers are spooky (not scary).

• What should I wear?

  Illuminated Witley Court is an outdoors, evening event in the autumn. There are no covered areas during the trail and the paths can get muddy, so we recommend sturdy shoes and wet weather gear.

• Can I purchase food and drink at Illuminated Witley Court?

  We are currently working on our food and drink offer for this event. Once finalised, we will update this webpage.

• What shopping facilities are available?

  Our shop will be open throughout the event, providing a range of treats – from toys and games to food, drink, clothing, homeware, and Christmas gifts.

Tickets

• Do I need to pre-book tickets?

  We strongly recommend pre-booking tickets to guarantee entry and avoid disappointment. Walk-up tickets will be limited and subject to availability on the day.

• How will my tickets arrive?

  Your ticket will be emailed to you shortly after booking. Please note the email will be sent from our ticketing provider, SeeTickets. If this doesn’t arrive in your inbox, please check your junk / spam folder.

• Is there a member's discount?

  Yes, English Heritage members will receive a discounted ticket price. If you are a Member please remember to bring your English Heritage Membership card with you.

• Is there a concessions or senior citizen’s price?

  Sorry, we do not offer a concession price or senior citizen’s price for our Illuminated events.

• Do children need to pay?

  All children must book a ticket. Children under the age of 5 are free of charge but must still book a ticket. There is a charge for children age 5-17 years. 18 and over pay the adult price.

• Can my tickets be changed?

  Unfortunately, we are unable to change your ticket once purchased.

• What happens if I cannot attend?

  Unfortunately, due to high demand tickets are non-refundable and not interchangeable.

• Will refunds be offered if the event is cancelled due to poor weather conditions?

  If English Heritage has to cancel the event before the advertised start time, then full refunds will be offered. You can then rebook for an alternative date, subject to availability.

• I am attending Witley Court during the day. Will I need to leave the site before entering Illuminated Witley Court in the evening?

  We ask that our daytime visitors vacate the site by the closing time of 3pm. This is to ensure that only ticket holders for Illuminated Witley Court have entry to the event in the evening.

• Is site re-entry allowed? What do I do if I need to pop back to the car for something I've forgotten?

  Yes – you will be able to re-enter the event, please keep your ticket(s) with you and show them to the admissions team on re-entry.

• When should I arrive?

  Please arrive in time to park and be at the entrance for the timeslot on your ticket. Entry will not be permitted before your timeslot, but if you’re running a little late you’ll have up to 30 minutes to start the trail. 

Parking and Accessibility

Please note, due to the nature of this event, there will be limited lighting in places around the site. Please keep to the lit paths and keep track of younger visitors. Paths are uneven in places and may be slippery under foot in poor weather, so please wear suitable footwear. We advise visitors to wrap up warm as the event takes place throughout the grounds with no indoor shelter. Please be aware there is a lake along the route at Illuminated Witley Court, so please keep an eye on small children.

• Will there be free parking?

  Free parking will be available at Witley Court & Gardens. Please go directly to the carpark on the evening you have booked, aiming to park 15 minutes before your allocated time slot, and you will be directed to an available space. Parking is subject to availability and so we ask visitors to arrive promptly for your entry time.

• How far is the Illuminated Witley Court trail?

  The Illuminated trail is approximately 1 mile in length. There is no restriction as to how many times you can enjoy the trail.\

• Are there toilets on site?

  Male, female and accessible toilets (with baby changing facilities) are located next to the entrance.

• Is Illuminated Witley Court wheelchair/pushchair friendly?

  The trail makes use of the pathways around the site; however, the terrain can vary and have a slight incline/decline at times. If you have specific access requirements, please call 01299 896636 and our site team will be happy to advise.

• Can we book a wheelchair/mobility scooter?

  Unfortunately, there is no opportunity to pre-book a wheelchair for use during the event. There are wheelchairs available on site; however, these are available on a first come, first served basis.

• Can I book a carer ticket to Illuminated Witley Court?

  Yes, a carer or companion will be admitted free. Please add on a Carer ticket type when you book your ticket.

• Are dogs allowed into the event?

  Yes, dogs are allowed at Illuminated Witley Court on a short lead. Assistance dogs are welcome. This event may not be suitable for dogs with noise sensitivity or those nervous in crowds.
