Letting Us Know
The English Heritage Trust is a registered charity (number: 1140351) and manages the National Collection of historic properties on behalf of The Historic Buildings and Monuments Commission for England. We are still able to accept gifts in wills that use an old registered address or name of English Heritage, such as The English Heritage Foundation.
All gifts in wills are looked after by our dedicated Legacy Manager who will be happy to help.

Restricted Gifts
If the will includes a gift to be used at a specific property or in support of a particular area of our work, please get in touch with our Legacy Manager using the details above.
This ensures our curators, conservators, gardeners and historians can continue to carry out vital work to protect the 420 historic places and 500,000 artefacts in our care. We will always make sure that gifts are only ever used for the purpose expressed in the will.
Gifts of Objects and Property
If the will mentions a specific object, an entire collection or a property left to English Heritage, please let us know so that we can agree the best means of looking after the gift. While we are very appreciative of gifts of any kind we cannot promise to find a home for every object, or to use objects in the way expressed in a will.
We are usually only able to accept gifts of specific objects, collections or properties where they represent a meaningful addition to the National Collection, or have a special connection to one of the sites in our care. Please do get in touch as we may be able to suggest a solution to ensure that the donor’s wishes are carried out.
Thank You
English Heritage is grateful for all gifts in wills, which help ensure the places that tell the story of England can continue to inspire future generations as they have our own and those before us.
