Before You Go

This hillfort in Devon was built during the 4th century BC. It was used by an Iron Age tribal people, probably for several hundred years. Blackbury Camp had impressive ramparts, and the single entrance was protected by a large triangular earthwork or ‘barbican’. Now surrounded by woodland, the hillfort is a popular spot for picnics.

Plan a Great Day Out

Visit during late spring to see the fantastic carpet of bluebells and bring a picnic to make the most of this picturesque spot - also a great base for local walks.

Why not extend your day out with a visit to Abbotsbury, less than 25 miles from the camp. Both the abbey remains and St Catherine's Chapel offer stunning views.
