Facilities at Lullingstone Roman Villa

  • Parking

    Car park is 40m from entrance and has a loose gravel surface. Visitors have to cross a road to reach the site. English Heritage members: Free parking. Non-members: Parking fee of £3.00. Additional parking (not managed by English Heritage) is located in the High Street, Eynsford, DA4 0AA.

  • Food And Drink

    Self-service tea bar serving tea, coffee and hot chocolate. Cold drinks and various snacks are also available. Ice-cream is sold in the summer.
  • Picnic Area

    You are welcome to bring a picnic to eat in the grounds which have lovely views of the Darent Valley and River Darent. There are seating benches and grassy areas to relax on.  
  • Shop

    Gift shop is located at the entrance, selling a wide range of English Heritage souvenirs and gifts, including books, replica costumes and armour and toys etc. Hot and cold drinks and various light snacks are also available.
  • Toilets

    Male and female toilets in the car park. Disabled toilet and baby changing facilities within the site. Additional facilities are available in the Lullingstone Country Park Visitor Centre, managed by Kent County Council.

    Well behaved dogs on short leads are welcome.

    Galleries overlooking the fully excavated remains display Lullingstone Roman Villa’s fascinating and recently returned collection of Roman artefacts, enlivened by paintings by the award-winning children’s illustrator, Jane Ray
  • Exhibition

    A specially-commissioned film and light show brings the villa to life, lighting up areas of the remains as the film reveals how they were once used. Children and other visitors can also play Roman board games, handle original building materials and try on Roman costumes.
  • Gardens

    Visitors may enjoy the 'Lullingstone Loop walk': local footpath route, managed by Kent County Council, with views of the Darent Valley and Lullingstone Castle. There are also horse riding and cycling routes in the surrounding area.

We do have some restrictions at certain locations, so if photography is your main reason for visiting, please call the site ahead of your visit to check if any parts of the site are restricted. English Heritage does not permit drone flying from or over sites in our care, except by contractors or partners undertaking flights for a specific purpose, who satisfy stringent CAA criteria, have the correct insurances and permissions, and are operating under controlled conditions.
