Limited parking. Free for English Heritage members displaying a valid car sticker. Non-members must pay. Use SE9 5NP for sat nav directions to the car park. There are spaces available for Blue Badge holders. The car park gets very busy at weekends and in the school holidays; travel by public transport where possible.

There are picnic benches and tables by the visitor centre.
No dogs allowed, although assistance dogs welcome.
There are 19 acres of gardens featuring both 20th-century and medieval elements. These include a rock garden sloping down to the filled moat, a medieval bridge and a stunning herbaceous border. Find out more here.

Due to the delicate nature of our sites, English Heritage does not permit drone flying from or over sites in our care, except by contractors or partners undertaking flights for a specific purpose, who satisfy stringent CAA criteria, have the correct insurances and permissions, and are operating under controlled conditions.
