Facilities at Mount Grace Priory

  • Parking

    Car park has space for 80 cars and is located 150 metres from the site via a sloping tarmac drive.

    Parking charges apply to non-members and National Trust members. Parking is free for English Heritage members.

    Please be aware that the car park can get busy at peak times such as the summer holidays. The busiest times are between 11am – 2pm.

  • Food And Drink

    The Orchard Cafe serves hot meals and lighter options such as soups and sandwiches. We also serve a wide selection of sweet treats, and hot and cold drinks. Children's options are available.

  • Picnic Area

    You are welcome to bring a picnic to eat in the peaceful orchard and cloister. Selection of picnic benches available on the grass. No BBQs please.

  • Shop

    Food, alcohol, souvenirs and a very good selection of heritage related books.

  • Toilets

    Male, female and disabled toilets. Baby changing facilities located in the Manor House.
  • Dogs

    V

    Dogs on short leads are welcome in the grounds of Mount Grace. Please note, dogs are not permitted in the house, café interior or Reconstructed Monks Cell. Assistant dogs are welcome across the site. 

  • Museum

    Museum contains displays and artefacts uncovered during site excavations. Situated on first floor, accessed via three flights of stairs.
  • Gardens

    V

    We have 13 acres of newly re-designed Arts and Crafts gardens for you to explore. The formal borders in front of the manor house are designed by Chris Beardshaw. We have an orchard, pasture with mown paths and a lake, and meadow areas too. The garden is a haven for wildlife, including several types of bats, ground nesting birds, and of course the famous priory stoats which were filmed by David Attenborough.

    English Heritage welcomes amateur photographers to our sites and we hope you will share your pictures of your visit with us on social media.

    If you are looking to use one of our sites for commercial, corporate or professional photography or as a filming location, please contact our filming team as soon as possible to check availability and acquire the relevant permissions and paperwork.

    Due to the delicate nature of our sites, English Heritage does not permit drone flying from or over sites in our care, except by contractors or partners undertaking flights for a specific purpose, who satisfy stringent CAA criteria, have the correct insurances and permissions, and are operating under controlled conditions.
