Fort Brockhurst

Fort Brockhurst will be open every 2nd and 4th Saturday each month from April to October with the first open day on 13th April 2024 with a display from the Fort Cumberland Guard. This year the annual Victorian Military Weekend will be taking place on Saturday 25th and 26th May 2024 with new and exciting displays.

Before You Go

One of a number of forts built in the 1850s and 1860s to protect Portsmouth and its vital harbour against a French invasion. Largely unaltered, the parade ground, gun ramps, moated keep, washrooms and armoury can all be viewed.

Opening times: Fort Brockhurst is open from 11am to 3pm on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month between April and October.

 

Parking: The car park is 60 metres from the fort entrance and access from the car park to the Fort entrance is level and accessible .A £2 parking charge for non-members is payable by text. Parking is free for Members with a valid English Heritage car sticker on display. If you would prefer to pay in advance of your visit, please visit our parking payment service website.

Access: Disabled access is only possible to the grounds and ground floor.

Dogs: Dogs on leads are welcome in the parade ground only but assistance dogs are welcome throughout the site.

Continue your day with a visit to nearby Portchester Castle, for views across the Solent and a chance to browse the gift shop.  Head into Portsmouth to visit the ornamental King James's and Landport Gates and the 13th century Royal Garrison Church, which was partially destroyed by bombing in 1941.
