Before You Go

On the edge of Barnsley stand the substantial remains of Monk Bretton Priory, a Cluniac monastery founded in the 12th century. Today visitors can see the unusually well-marked ground plan, the almost complete west range and the 15th century gatehouse.

Opening Times: 10am - 3pm daily, closed 24-26 December and 1 January. 

Parking: There is limited space for parking at the site. 

Facilities: Nearby Brodsworth Hall has toilets, a shop and a tearoom.

Plan a Great Day Out

Beautiful Brodsworth Hall is a 20 minute drive away from Monk Bretton. In addition to the fascinating hall and the restored Victorian gardens, the site boasts a lovely tearoom, serving up food created from the best locally sourced ingredients.  There is also a play area for children.
