Free parking for about 10 cars is 250m from admissions on a rough path. Alternative parking available for disabled visitors beside admission point.

You are welcome to bring a picnic to eat in the grounds, which have lovely views over the abbey ruins. There several benches are around the site - although not picnic benches.

The abbey is set in a valley landscaped by 'Capability' Brown in the 18th century. It is a Site of Special Scientific Interest: there is plenty of wildlife and four waterfalls, plus a stream running through the site. A public footpath with runs alongside the abbey. Wedding photographs may be taken on site. There is a charge for this and you must book in advance. Please contact the site for details. English Heritage welcomes all photographers to our sites and we hope you will share your pictures with us on Flickr and Facebook.

We do have some restrictions at certain locations, so if photography is your main reason for visiting, please call the site ahead of your visit to check if any parts of the site are restricted.
