Gainsborough Old Hall

Old Hall, New Beginnings

In 2021 Gainsborough Old Hall underwent significant conservation and reinterpretation work. Our revival of this impressive hall will be enhanced by a £222k grant from The National Lottery Heritage Fund.

The National Lottery Heritage Fund

Gainsborough Old Hall, New Beginnings is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we are undertaking conservation works, revitalising the garden and hosting a range of activities for the local community including volunteer opportunities, a social prescribing programme and an employability skills development programme.

Take a look at The National Lottery Heritage fund's website for more info.

The plan

The project, which began in January, will take place in phases and will be complete next year. The Old Hall will remain open throughout. More fun, family events and fresh information about the hall is planned. Support for a research project as well as the school’s bursary programme (which has been created by the Friends of Gainsborough Old Hall) is in motion too.

Volunteer with us

As part of the Old Hall, New Beginnings project we’re looking for volunteers to take on a range of different roles. We’re currently looking for volunteers to help with archives, collections, conservation, the book shop and meeting and greeting.
