    No parking on site, but free parking available on the roadside.

    The on site shop serves tea, coffee and hot chocolate. Cold drinks and various snacks are also available. Ice-cream is sold in the summer.
  • Picnic Area

    This is a great place for a picnic inside the castle ruins. There are two picnic benches and we have lovely views of the castle and surrounding countryside including the River Eamont. Please note that there is no access to the river, which is on private land.
  • Shop

    Gift shop is located near the entrance. This sells a range of English Heritage souvenirs and gifts, including books, toys, snacks, hot and cold drinks.
  • Toilets

    Portaloos are available for visitors.

  • Dogs

    Dogs on leads are welcome. Please note that they are not allowed on the private land by the river.

  • Exhibition

    An exhibition inside the shop highlights the remarkable life of Lady Anne Clifford, and includes stone carvings from the Roman fort and some later pottery finds.
  • Gardens

    A complex of passages and spiral stairways makes Brougham a fascinating castle to explore, as well as for playing exciting games of hide and seek! The top of the Keep has panoramic views over the Eden Valley and the earthworks of the adjacent Roman fort of Brocavum.
