Chiswick House and Gardens

Facilities at Chiswick House and Gardens

  • Parking

    V

The public car park is situated just off the westbound A4 (around 5 minutes' walk away from the house) and clearly marked by a brown tourist board entrance sign. It has space for 60 cars, including three spaces for Blue Badge holders, and is operated by Hounslow Council.

Please note: Hounslow Council Car Parks will no longer operate using cash terminals, so all payments will be done via app. We recommend that you download the app ‘paybyphone’ before you arrive, using the location code 803065.

Parking is also available on residential roads around the park and pedestrian access is via gates on Burlington Lane, Staveley Road and Park Road.

The house and café are a 5-minute walk from the public car park along level gravel paths. Visitors with a Blue Badge who require closer parking may phone to reserve a parking place within the gardens, subject to availability. These spaces are limited so reservation is required.

There is currently no coach parking on site - please park on Burlington Lane, 50 metres from the entrance.

The Café is run by Colicci – an artisan, independent family brand of cafés and restaurants. The Café is open every day from 8am serving Colicci’s signature speciality coffee and homemade cakes. They have a range of delicious lunch items, including freshly baked sourdough pizzas from the in-house pizza oven. Children’s options are available.

Ingredients are locally sourced and sustainable and feature seasonal produce from the Chiswick House and Gardens Kitchen Garden.

The Café was designed by award-winning architects Caruso St John; the contemporary space looks out on the magnificent gardens and neo-Palladian villa. In 2011, the Café received three RIBA awards including London Building of the Year.

The Green Flag and London in Bloom winning, Grade 1 listed gardens are around 66 acres in size and feature a number of bridges, cascades, statues and garden buildings. They are largely flat, with the exception of the path leading to the hill over the cascade. Chiswick House Gardens are widely regarded as the birthplace of the English Landscape Garden, and were restored in 2010 to reveal the original vistas. The gardens are managed by the Chiswick House and Gardens Trust.

Chiswick House and Gardens Trust are working to put in place measures to maintain and enhance biodiversity. The work will encourage more resilient and coherent ecological networks and healthy and well-functioning ecosystems, with multiple benefits for both wildlife and people. The gardens are home to a diverse variety of wildlife, including birds, squirrels, bats, hedgehogs and stag beetles.
