Standing on a rocky crag, above the beautifully wooded Wye Valley, Goodrich Castle is one of the finest and best-preserved ruins of an English medieval castle. Step into its Civil War history, climb the Norman keep, enjoy the views and leave time for a cream tea in the café.

We offer a 10% discount for organised groups of 15 or more paying visitors when payment is made in a single transaction.
Per group you also receive:

  • free entry for one tour leader
  • free entry for one coach driver

The tour leader, coach driver and any English Heritage members do not count towards the group totals.

Booking information

Group admission prices and opening times:

Please refer to our Group Admission Prices & Site Opening Times brochure for pricing and opening times information at our top sites for groups. 

Making a booking:

You can book a trade or group visit on the Group Ticketing and Bookings Portal. You will need to register, or log-in to access.

Payment method:

Payment can be made on arrival by: cash, credit/debit card, Agency Voucher Scheme (AVS).

Visit and contact information

  • Coach parking: Coach parking is available at the rear end of our car park.
  • Catering: Goodrich's delightful tearoom offers hot snacks, light refreshments and a children's meal deal option, as well as cream teas and cakes for those with a sweet tooth. There’s also a selection of Fairtrade hot drinks for you to enjoy.
  • Audio tour: Audio guides are subject to availability.
  • Exhibition: The visitor centre features an interesting display of information charting the history of the castle, and some Civil War artefacts from its siege in 1646. A "Roaring Meg" cannon is located in the courtyard.
  • Access: Disabled access is limited (no ramps). Please call for details or ask at the visitor centre on arrival.
  • Average length of visit: 1 hour.

This tour will present a personalised view of Goodrich Castle by one of our dedicated volunteer tour guides. Learn about the history and architectural features of the castle, alongside stories of people who lived and worked there.

  • Advance booking required: Yes, a minimum of 30 days notice is required
