Facilities at Ranger's House - the Wernher Collection

    Please note: There is no on site parking or coach/minibus parking available at this site.
    Eight parking spaces outside the house are free of charge and there is additional parking alongside the adjacent bowling green. However, please note that these are not managed by English Heritage and restrictions are in operation between 9am and 10am.
    Other off site parking can be found in Greenwich Park, Blackheath village and Greenwich town centre.

  • Food And Drink

    Rangers House has no facilities for refreshments or vending machines. The nearest off site facilities can be found at Blackheath, Greenwich Park and Greenwich.
  • Picnic Area

    You are welcome to bring a picnic to eat in the garden (located at the side of the house), although please note that there are no picnic benches.

    There is a small gift shop at Ranger's House.

  • Toilets

    Male/female and disabled toilets are available at the house. Unfortunately there are no baby changing facilities.

    Guide dogs are welcome. Dogs on leads are welcome in the garden only.

    The Wernher Collection is an astounding display of medieval and Renaissance works of art, all purchased by the diamond magnate Sir Julius Wernher. The collection consists of nearly 700 works of art, including early religious painting and Dutch Old Masters, minute carved Gothic ivories, fine Renaissance bronzes and silver treasures. This is a permanent exhibition.

    There is a small garden located to side of the house. From here there is access into the Rose Garden of Greenwich Park where squirrels can sometimes be spotted.

    There is space for children to play in, although ball games, kites and cycling are not permitted.

    Parts of the house and the garden can be hired out for dinners and corporate functions. Rangers House also has a marquee licence (restrictions apply).

  • Commercial Photograph And Filming

    Unfortunately photography is not permitted in the house.

    If you are looking to use one of our sites for commercial, corporate or professional photography or as a filming location, please contact our filming team as soon as possible to check availability and acquire the relevant permissions and paperwork.

    Due to the delicate nature of our sites, English Heritage does not permit drone flying from or over sites in our care, except by contractors or partners undertaking flights for a specific purpose, who satisfy stringent CAA criteria, have the correct insurances and permissions, and are operating under controlled conditions.
