Plan Your Visit

Pets at Stonehenge

If you're planning to bring the family pet with you to Stonehenge, please make sure you know where they can and can't join you during your visit to avoid any disappointment.

Where Dogs on leads are permitted

Please ensure that you clean up after your dog, wherever you are.

Dogs must not be tied up anywhere on site, or left in vehicles in our car park. If we are made aware of an animal in distress inside a vehicle, we will call the police.  There is no shade in our car park and even on mild days, the interior temperature can quickly become too hot.

Where Animals are not permitted

  • Stone Circle and Monument Field
  • Visitor Buses
  • Exhibition

Stonehenge is protected by the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Areas Act 1979. This states that 'bringing any animal onto the site of the monument without the prior consent of English Heritage or allowing any animal to remain after such consent has been withdrawn' is prohibited.

Assistance dogs are automatically permitted in all areas of the site but for any other animals please contact Customer Services for advice in advance of your visit.
