You've met the experts through our magazine, but now meet them in real life!

We have a range of expert-led tours at sites across the country, free and exclusive to members. You'll enjoy behind-the-scenes access to our sites and collections in the company of our historians, curators, collections managers and landscape advisors.

    Discover the glamorous interiors created for Stephen and Virginia Courtauld at their art deco mansion. We will explore the designers and materials behind some of Eltham Palace's most showstopping rooms, and find out about how paintings, prints and decorative arts were used to compliment the 1930s design.

  • Remembering the Conqueror

    1066 Battle of Hastings, Abbey and Battlefied, East Sussex

    Wednesday 15 May, 12pm–1.15pm

    With a focus on the lives of the monks who lived and prayed at Battle Abbey, this tour will explain how the buildings of the monastery were constantly reshaped — learn about a king fearful of eternal damnation, Battle’s own saint, remarkable holy relics, the monks’ pet monkey and an abbot’s digestive problems.

  • A medieval priory from foundation to dissolution

    Castle Acre Priory, Norfolk

    Castle Acre Priory was home to a community of Cluniac monks who rejoiced in the ‘beauty of holiness’. Discover how the priory functioned between its foundation in the late 11th century and dissolution by Henry VIII. Visit the prior’s lodging and view the wall-paintings, a glimpse of the priory’s visual splendour.

  • Digging deeper at Grime’s Graves

    Grime's Graves, Norfolk

    Join us for a special tour which will take place in Greenwell’s Pit, the first mine to be excavated at Grime's Graves in 1868-70. Normally closed to the public, Greenwell’s Pit is remarkably well preserved and has many objects still in place where they were deposited by the Neolithic miners.
