In the hall
Ingrid’s works explore the landscape and natural materials which Belsay is made of and aims to brings the outside in. In the Pillar Hall, you’ll see a piece of sandstone dramatically suspended with ropes. Whilst in the library there is an installation made of slate and another made of logs in the dining room. Head upstairs and spot some of Belsay’s iconic trees printed onto voiles. Notice intricately designed paper fragments, inspired by the Wild Man, covering torn wallpaper too.
In the Quarry Gardens
Keep your eyes peeled for intriguing mirrors hidden in plain sight in the Quarry Garden. These reflective surfaces might catch you unexpectedly, but as the seasons change and the foliage starts to grow up around them, they will also become slightly obscured. You may catch a glimpse of yourself in the mirrors becoming a part of the gardens.
Come and see
The exhibition will be in place until 14 July 2024. At Belsay, you'll be able to discuss the works with our volunteer art explainers. Don’t forget to pick up a leaflet which contains a map and information about each of the pieces too.
