Craghoppers
We are delighted to announce that we have launched a new three-year partnership with global outdoor and travel clothing manufacturer and supplier, Craghoppers.
Craghoppers’ generous support will provide our site based staff with new technical waterproof jackets, soft-shell jackets and fleeces. Working at our sites often leaves our staff exposed to the elements so the hard-wearing, long-lasting outerwear will be particularly helpful.

The staff and volunteers really bring to life the rich history of our great country to millions of visitors and they can be found working in all weathers, so they need protecting. We have chosen, in collaboration with English Heritage, 3 essential pieces of kit which we believe will do the job!"

As part of our partnership, Craghoppers will be working with Ambassadors from some of our iconic sites including Dover Castle and Hadrian’s Wall. The Ambassadors will share their insights into life working at these stunning locations, and how their new weatherproof kit will help make their job a little easier.

We recently sent Raven Todd DaSilva to meet with Andrew Roberts, English Heritage Properties Historian, to explore a spectacular section of the bucket list destination, Hadrian’s Wall.
Starting at English Heritage Site, Housesteads Roman Fort, they took in stunning views while discussing the way the wall has left a lasting mark on the surrounding landscape. Taking in the famous Sycamore Gap, and finishing at Steel Rigg, this walk transports us back to Roman times, when the wall was host to a bustling community of soldiers and civilians, as well as being the well-known defensive structure we know today.
Walking Helmsley Castle to Rievaulx Abbey
Join Craghoppers and adventurers Frit Tam and Frankie Dewar as they explore the scenic Cleveland Way walk between Helmsley Castle and Rievaulx Abbey.
Linking these two North Yorkshire English Heritage sites, this delightful 2.5-mile walk is great for any time of year. Park in the beautiful historic town of Helmsley and explore the magnificent castle before heading over to the ruined Rievaulx Abbey, where you can stand in the magnificent ruins as sunlight floods through the atmospheric stone arched windows.
